Yutong Buses Safety Operation Tips for Africa's Hot and Rainy Season
Dear African Customers,
Africa features high temperatures across the whole region, and the rainy season is fast approaching. Short spells of heavy rain are prone to cause road waterlogging, which brings special challenges to the safe operation of buses. Combining local climatic and road conditions, Yutong has compiled key operation and maintenance tips for buses in the hot and rainy season. We also stand by you with our localized service network to ensure the safe and efficient operation of your vehicles.
1. Rainy Season Operation: Guard Against Waterlogging Risks and Proper Emergency Response
a)When driving in the rain, keep a greater safe distance from the vehicle ahead to avoid rear-end collisions. You may drive through water cautiously **only if the water depth on the road is ≤330mm**, with your speed kept at ≤10km/h. Pay close attention to instrument alerts. Never force your way through if the water depth exceeds 330mm.
b)If the bus stalls while driving through water, **DO NOT restart the engine**. Follow these steps: evacuate passengers → turn off the key and main switch → contact rescue to tow the bus for maintenance.
c)Keep the driver's window closed when the bus is parked to prevent short circuits caused by rainwater seeping into electrical components in the auxiliary instrument panel. Park the bus in open, well-drained areas (the water depth shall not exceed 250mm in extreme waterlogging). Stay away from low-lying areas, big trees, high-voltage lines and other dangerous spots. Make sure all doors and windows are closed and the battery power switch is turned off.

2. High Temperature Weather: Strengthen Vehicle Inspections and Eliminate Safety Hazards
a)Check the coolant level in the expansion tank before departure every day. Regularly inspect cooling system components such as the engine cooling fan, water pump and water pipelines to ensure their normal operation. Strictly keep the tire pressure within the standard range to prevent tire blowouts due to high temperatures.
b)In case of a tire blowout while driving, do not brake suddenly or make sharp steering turns. Grip the steering wheel firmly to keep the bus moving straight, slow down gradually and pull over to a safe area.
c)Park the bus where there are no flammables (such as dry grass and straw) underneath, to avoid fire caused by high-temperature exhaust gas from the exhaust pipe. **Never use mosquito coils inside the bus**.
